Chemical Engineering Department is established in the year of 1983 with 60 intakes for U.G. program. and PG program with 18 intakes from 1998. Since from the establishment, the Department has gone for ISO certification, TEQUIP phase – II. UG program of Chemical Engineering Department has accredited by NBA – AICTE, New Delhi in 2004 for ‘5 years’ and in 2011 for ‘3 years’. The department has approved recognized Ph.D center from June 2016-17 by Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The institute has accrediated by NAAC 'A' Grade with CGPA 3.27 Bengaluru and Department has awarded 3rd rank at National Level for 'Best Industry Linked Department' by CII-AICTE, New Dehli for the year 2016-17. Recently, the institute is conferred by autonoumous status in 2020. Being pioneer department in the Shivaji University Area, Department has conducted so many activities like Training Program to students as well as Industrial personals of software courses like ASPEN PLUS, UNISIM, CFD, ProMax etc. and to some extent consultancy. Our Chemical Department is collaborated with well nationalized Institute Department like IIT, ICT, NCL, RCF, BARC, DRDO, NEERI etc. Some of the projects are carried out along with Industries like Finolex Inds. Ltd, Exel Industries, Thermax Ltd. and Research organations like NCL, BARC, DRDO etc. One of the most important research projects ’Continuous Jaggery Production’ is running in the department along with IIT Mumbai and successfully errected a pilot plant in the campus with the capacity of one ton per day. The department has received more than Rs. 35,00,000.00 Lacs under MODROBS and RPS from DST for laboratories AMT, AHT, CRE, MO, IIPC and PDC lab. It is our tradition that every year our final year students are bagging University Ranks. Department have invested more than Rs. 1,25,00,000.00 for different laboratories like Fluid Mechanics, Fluid Machinaries, H.T, PDC, CRE, MT, CPGT, PI&IMA, MO, ASP, PG research Lab, Computer, miscellaneous etc. Department have a separate computing facility equipped with 55 computers and at center level 1120 mbps internet connection is available. Department has provided a access of ASPEN PLUS, ProMax, CFD, MATLAB, UNISIM Design. Apart from the academics, department is providing activities for the overall development of students like Personality Development Techniques, Interview Techniques, Soft Skills and Communication conducted by industrial experts. Paper Presentation Competition, Group Discussion, guidance for GATE Examination etc. are also conducted by the experts. Department has strong Student's Association ChESA under which various activies like Guest lecture, Project Competition, Quiz Competition etc. are conducted through which students skills are updated.
